One of our recent visitors was the beautiful Eurasian Hoopoe (Upupa epops), a remarkable bird known for its distinctive feathered crest, cinnamon-coloured plumage, and striking black-and-white wings.

Native to Europe, Asia, and Africa, the hoopoe is also found in Portugal, where it inhabits open countryside, gardens, orchards, and areas with scattered trees.

Its long, slightly curved beak allows it to search the soil for insects and larvae, making it a fascinating bird to observe as it moves quietly across the ground.

Nature is part of our story

At Quinta Campus de Tojo, encounters like this remind us of the importance of preserving the natural environment that surrounds us.

From birdsong in the morning to unexpected wildlife sightings along our grounds, every season brings new opportunities to reconnect with the living world.

For our guests, these small discoveries are part of the AmarCintra experience — an invitation to slow down, observe, and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Sometimes, the most memorable moments are the ones we never planned.

Photography note: The original sighting took place at Quinta Campus de Tojo.
